If you have a hard time getting your greens in or just want to get the extra benefits of green juice then this is the post for you! We all know how important vegetables are especially green vegetables.
The health benefits of drinking green juice are worth the taste that some may not be a fan of. After a while, you get used to the taste and it’s not as bad. The ginger and lemon help to make it not so bitter, plus adds extra benefits.
The past two weeks I have been having a homemade green juice every morning on an empty stomach. It is much easier to just make a bunch for two or three days than to make it every single morning. If you can make it every day then more power to you and I am sure it is much fresher but keeping it stored in a closed container/mason jar will hold all of the nutrients in.
One of the biggest things I have noticed since adding green juice into my daily diet is with my SKIN! I am not sure what happened but my skin has not been the best in the last few months, not even the products from my dermatologist were working. Within a few days of drinking green juice daily, my skin was almost completely clear. Not only that but I was glowing and getting a lot of compliments.
Benefits of Green Juice

High in Nutrients and Chlorophyll
Chlorophyll is a pigment in plants that makes them able to absorb light from the sun and convert it into usable energy. Basically, chlorophyll is a liquid form of sunshine. It helps to replenish and rebuild red blood cells, increasing our energy and overall well being.
Glowing Skin
One of the biggest differences I have noticed since adding green juice into my diet is with my skin. When I am staying consistent and having green juice also every night my skin is completely clear and glowing! This is one of my favorite benefits of fresh juice.
Immune System
Adding fresh green juice into your diet is one of the easiest ways to boost your immune system. It is extremely high in vitamins A, C, and K that all help to strengthen the immune system. Green juice is amazing for your immune system because it is packed with nutrients.
Helps with Detoxification
Green juice is a natural detox drink that will help flush out the toxins in your body. A lot of people think drinking a detox green juice is going to help them lose all of this weight, which it can.
However, I personally do not recommend doing those juice detoxes where you don’t eat for days. I just incorporate them into my morning routine to help my system get started and detox all of the bad stuff out of my system.
Alkalizes the Body
What exactly are the benefits of an alkaline body? Well, it keeps you feeling energized and balanced.
When you eat processed foods, have sugary drinks or drink alcohol it can cause your body to be more acidic. Your body then has to get minerals from other parts in the body resulting in fatigue, weak bones, and digestive problems.
What to Add to Green Juice

Spinach- a superfood that is loaded with nutrients and low in calories. High in iron, magnesium, and calcium. Spinach may help with lowering the risk of cancer, both health, reduce oxidative stress and blood pressure.
Celery- a great source of important antioxidants.
Cucumber- low in calories but loaded with nutrients and minerals. They are very high in water so they help keep your body hydrated.
Green Apples- are known for helping to achieve beautiful skin. Green apples help to fight wrinkles, improve skin texture, brighten, vitamin C boost, and natural sun protection. They are rich in calcium which is good for your bones and teeth.
Ginger- one of the healthiest spices in the world. Ginger is full of nutrients and bioactive compounds that have powerful benefits for your brain and body.
Lemon- may help support heart health, weight control, and digestive system. Lemons are a good source of vitamin C which reduces your risk of heart disease and stroke. Vitamin C is also very important when it comes to the formation of collagen, the support system of your skin.
Turmeric- the main active ingredient in turmeric is curcumin. It is a very strong antioxidant and has very strong anti-inflammatory effects. It is important to have turmeric with black pepper to get the benefits. I sprinkle turmeric powder and black pepper into my juices.
Other Options- kale, parsley, romaine, oranges beets.

Greens Supplements vs Fresh Green Juice
We have all heard the saying “eat your greens” growing up. To be honest, this is the best way to get in your vegetables and receive the full benefits of them. However, not everyone wants to have green vegetables with every meal.
I want to make it clear that I juice to add extra greens into my diet not replace the greens I should be eating. I used to add green powders into my smoothies and of course, I felt better. But when I started having juice instead, I feel 3 times better.
Our bodies can digest powders easily but studies have shown that they may not have some of the important enzymes needed in order to absorb. When you have fresh juice and the parts of the plant with fiber are removed, the cell walls break down that allow enzymes to act on the nutrients.

How to Store Green Juice
Drinking your juice immediately after you make it is, of course, the ideal way. But not everyone has time in the morning to make fresh juice every day. Making juice ahead of time is the best way to ensure you will actually make and drink it every day.
I store my juice in mason jars with a tight lid to keep all of the nutrients in. It is important to store your juices in glass airtight containers and fill them to the top. You want to pour your juice in the containers and close them as soon as you are finished making it.

The benefits of green juice are worth giving it a try! I suggest buying a juicer because it is fresher and much cheaper in the long run. Do you juice? What do you add to your juices? What benefits have you seen from juicing?
